Episode #308
There’s something special about a card with gorgeous scenery. It takes you out of the moment and brings a measured moment of peace, quiet, and beauty. This week I showed how to make a Scenic View Window Card that showcases the lovely Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Paper. (This is one of the designer series paper packs that’s on sale this month for an extra 15% off!) This DSP is part of the Thoughtful Journey Suite Collection. I also used the Thoughtful Wishes Bundle that’s part of the suite to create the cards.
You can see how the card opens to the large piece of designer series paper and then the small window flap opens to the sentiment cardstock.
The first card I made has the wild and beautiful images of thistles. I used thistle patterned paper for the large 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece as well as for the frame around the window. I used 2024-2026 In-Color Glimmer Paper (Pretty in Pink) for the die cut floral image.
The second card has the mountains and evergreen trees in the scenery. I used a piece of dark blue Thoughtful Designs Specialty Paper to die cut the leaves.
This third card shows some of the desert scene DSP. I love the touches of bright color (Cajun Craze). I used more of the Thoughtful Designs Specialty Paper for the beautiful die cut on the front.
Which one is your favorite? I think mine is the mountain scenery card.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
I recently came across your tutorial on creating a Scenic View Window Card, and I have to say, it’s absolutely enchanting. There’s something so calming about a card that captures beautiful scenery—it really does provide a little moment of tranquility for the recipient. The way you used the Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Paper was brilliant; it perfectly highlights the serene beauty of the design. I’m excited to give this a try and bring that same peaceful feeling to my own cards!
Love your card. on the bottom of the instructions there is measurements for DSP 4 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ for die cut. In the video I do not see where this is used. Did I miss it?
Hi Sandi,
thank you! The die cut I’m referring to is the large one with the linen thread (bow) on it right below the window. It’s shown in the Project Sheet.
